AWANA
Purpose
The AWANA CLUB at Nechako Community Church is a vibrant, alive,
maturing, and just plain "happening" ministry. With numerous kids and a
team of dedicated adult and youth workers, the club is an incredible
way to "REACH BOYS AND GIRLS WITH THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST, AND TRAIN
THEM TO SERVE HIM" (which is our motto and statement).
Function
On AWANA Wednesdays, club, for most clubbers, begins at 6:00 pm and
ends at 7:30 pm. During that time there is a Handbook Time, listening
to the clubbers memorized verses, Games Time and Council (story) Time.
The most important goal for AWANA is to lead children to Christ and
encourage clubbers to memorize God's Word. No apologies.
Participation
Bless you for asking! The work that is done at AWANA includes the
following:
a.) Listeners: These people meet with clubbers during the allotted time
span and listen to the clubbers say their verses. An effective listener
commits himself or herself to the whole year and attends faithfully.
b.) Secretaries: These are the folks that take care of things like:
record keeping, ordering materials, money, etc. Secretaries attend
weekly, and often do additional tasks as required during the week.
c.) Leaders: These people are the leaders of the children. They deliver
the handbook time materials/activities to the clubbers and assist and
provide support for the director. An effective leader is helpful,
responsible, and proactive. They are always looking for ways to reach
the clubbers. Leaders attend each week, attend several meetings of the
club as required and aid in planning.
