Purpose

The purpose of the Elders is to provide spiritual and administrative leadership to NCC. We understand a leader to be a person with God-given capacity and a God-given responsibility who is influencing a specific group of God's people toward God's specific purposes for that group.

Functions

• General supervision and spiritual care of the church
• Administrative leadership
• Set goals and strategies in line with purpose of NCC
• Yearly evaluation of Staff
• Pray: listen and talk with God

• When sick so they can anoint with oil and pray (see James 5)
• When physical, spiritual or emotional needs require more support
• When conflict arises between persons in the body and cannot be resolved by the individuals
• Discuss and pray regarding God's direction for those considering going into full-time Christian work

An elder must be a member of NCC and adhere to the Confession of Faith. The requirements as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 5:1-9 form the basis for elder qualifications.  Summarized they are:

The elders will seek for and recognize the call of God on a believer for leadership. These individuals will be given the opportunity to minister in areas of progressive responsibility. As they  are proven in a ministry, they may be recommended to the membership for affirmation as elders.  Terms of appointment will be for two years.  Pastors are considered as elders.
